There is no perfect word to describe one’s emotions when one meets the breathtaking Lake Bled for the very first time. This awe-inspiring place has been attracting hundreds of tourists since it’s first rise into the World’s spotlight. But even before it became a household name – lake Bled was already known as the top destination inside Slovenia for the officials, royals, and celebrities alike.
So, what are you waiting for – step inside this fairytale and you will find yourself walking in a dream.
How to get there:
You can access Lake Bled from Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, Venice (Italy), Zagreb (Croatia), Graz or even Vienna (Austria) by taking a bus or a train, or simply by driving.
The famous attractions:
Bled Island: The Bled island is free to all visitors, however if you would like to go inside the beautiful baroque Church of the Assumption (the high tower), you would have to buy a ticket. Also to access the Bled island itself – you can hire one of the Pletna boats for a small fee. You will find the boats at the Park Hotel Bled, a luxury hotel built on the lake.
Bled Castle: The gorgeous medieval castle is located on top of a steep cliff and offers spectacular views of the lake Bled from above. You can access the castle by taking one of the several trails; you can also drive, or hire a taxi to get you up there. The entrance to the castle costs 10 Euros (7€ for students, 5€ for children – in 2016 prices) and is free to those who reserve a table at the Castle Restaurant. For more information, visit the official website.
