LizaGreetings and blessings all the way from Cape Town, South Africa.

My name is Liza de Villiers.  I am a free spirited, nature lover, photographer, and a tour guide with a passion for my country and the Mother Earth.

I was born in a place called Johannesburg, province of Gauteng, which is the ‘concrete jungle’ in South Africa.  I relocated to the beautiful Cape Town in 2000 and have been blessed to call this place my home for the past 16 years.

I am a photo tour guide by profession which allows me to meet exceptional people from all over the world and also allows me to share two of my passions with them: photography and my country.

How did it all start… well at a very young age I admired my Dad’s Minolta 35mm SLR film camera like it was piece of gold.  Every chance I had to either hold it or even take a picture was like heaven for me.  After getting my own little film ‘snap’ camera I loved getting trigger happy and sometimes my parents got quite frustrated with me as when they would develop my film and get the photographs, it will all be 27-30 shots of one thing… like a tree… but in my opinion from different angles, (even if it was only like a few millimeters difference).  From there my love and interest for photography kept growing, and got me my first part-time job in a photographic Studio at the age of 16, which turned into a permanent one after High School and the rest… as they say, is history.

When I am not showing off my beautiful country, I love to explore a mountain, hike, do yoga, dance with fire and travel to new places. There is a permanent wanderlust inside of me to see more of our beautiful Mother Earth.

I am extremely excited to be part of the Global Storybook team and hope I am able to inspire you all with my future posts and experiences, and maybe one day our paths will cross.
