I’m Anasthasia. I’m a 31 year-old Indonesian, born and raised in Jakarta, educated in Japan, briefly lived in sunny California, married to an American and currently living in Berlin. I grew up in a family who loves to travel. Both of my parents have traveled extensively since they were young. Growing up, I enjoyed listening to their travel stories, and hoped that one day I could see the world first-hand.

At the age of 17, I received a scholarship to study in Japan, and spent four years living in a beautiful city called Beppu in southern Japan. Following graduation, I moved to Tokyo in pursuit of a master’s degree. I was fortunate to be able to explore different parts of Japan during my six-year stay, and I’m proud to call Japan my second home.
Before I quit my job and moved to Berlin to be with my husband, I mainly worked in the field of development for several international organizations. Since moving to Berlin, I have had more time to focus on my passion – traveling and photography. I am a morning person, and when I travel, this habit doesn’t change. I like to wake up early so I have more time to explore the city, observe the locals doing their thing, and avoid massive crowds. Although I usually do a lot of research and plan what places to visit, I really don’t mind getting lost when I walk around.

Paris, France
Another interest of mine when traveling is to visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites. When I interned for UNESCO in Indonesia, I was involved in a world heritage site project. Since then, my personal mission has been to visit as many world heritage sites as I can. I was very excited when Daria contacted me and asked me to become a Contributing Editor for Global Storybook. I’m honored to be a part of this project, and look forward to sharing my travel experiences to inspire other travelers and be inspired by my fellow travelers. Love, Anasthasia
