I was born in a small city of Neiva, but grew up in a small nearby town of Yaguará. I was always surrounded by a very friendly atmosphere and raised by good moral principles. From the early age my father taught my brother and me how to operate agricultural machinery, since we grew up surrounded by beautiful rice fields. My mother was a very enterprising, and hard-working woman, and she made a lot of sacrifices to provide us with the best education that was possible.
Later, after many years of hard agricultural labor, I received an opportunity that changed my life. I am very thankful to many of my friends and family members that supported me at that time and gave me a hope and a push for a new path in life.
That opportunity was to study aeronautical engineering in the city of Barranquilla, where I gained a lot of knowledge about the subject, professional experience, and made great new friendships. Unfortunately, the aviation industry in Colombia is concentrated mainly in the capital city of Bogotá, where I had to move eventually, after 6 years of studies.
After moving to Bogotá, I got an offer to work in a foreign cargo airline and thanks to all the great mentorship I received there, I later got an even better offer for a job.
I still remember this day like it was yesterday – receiving my license issued by the FAA (Federal Aviation Authority of USA) on June 8, 2012. This important event has increased my commitment to the profession, and at the same time has opened new doors for me. Two years into my role at the cargo company, I joined the main, biggest airline of Colombia, called “Avianca”. In my new role I started providing essential technical support to Avianca and other foreign airlines.
In the Spring of 2015, in a charming city of Cartagena de Indias, I met a beautiful, smart and charismatic woman that became my soulmate. We fell in love almost instantly, and later decided to move in and continue our lives together. It turned out that her vision is a lot like mine – to make this World a better place, a World without discrimination based on color, race, or social status. And now, we are working together to build a place where anyone can be successful, and where we can find in each other everything that makes us a better human beings.
